Contemporary sequential segmental approach to congenital heart disease using four-dimensional magnetic resonance imaging with ferumoxytol: an illustrated editorial

نویسندگان

چکیده

The ferumoxytol-enhanced 4D MR angiography with MUSIC (Multiphase Steady State Imaging Contrast) technique provides a single data set that captures dynamic cardiovascular anatomy and ventricular function at the same time. Homogeneous opacification of all structures within imaging volume allows full sequential segmental approach to congenital heart diseases without any blind spots. complex systemic pulmonary venous is particularly well captured in MUSIC. Cinematographic display multiplanar sectional 3D images helpful morphological identification cardiac chambers, assessment nature outflow tracts, coronary arterial origins courses.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Congenital Heart Disease

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is increasingly being applied to critically ill newborns with congenital heart disease (CHD) with the hope of understanding mechanisms accounting for adverse neurodevelopmental outcome. This powerful technique has opened an unprecedented window into normal development and pathogenesis during fetal life and surrounding surgery. Much as the technological advances ...

DIAGNOSTIC METHODS CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE Magnetic resonance imaging in patients with congenital heart disease

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was conducted with use of the spin-echo technique (0.35 Tesla) in 22 patients with a variety of congenital and cardiovascular anomalies and in 16 normal volunteers. Electrocardiographic (ECG) synchronization of the data acquisition produced transverse, parasagittal, and coronal tomograms that were used to define size and relationship of the great vessels and int...

Magnetic resonance imaging evaluation of congenital heart disease: conotruncal anomalies.

Conotruncal anomalies comprise a diverse group of congenital heart defects involving the outflow tracts of the heart and the great vessels, including tetralogy of Fallot, transposition of the great arteries, truncus arteriosus, interrupted aortic arch, and other anomalies. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging plays an increasingly important role in the evaluation of patients with the...

Magnetic resonance imaging-guided catheter interventions in congenital heart disease.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has long been recognized as a useful technique for guiding diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Biopsies have been guided by MRI since the 1980s1; neurosurgery followed soon thereafter.2 Excellent soft tissue contrast and accurate spatial localization and display in 3 dimensions were particular advantages of MRI over other modalities in neurological and body i...
